West Mayo
Louisburgh is Westport’s secret west, where all the beautiful beaches are, with stunning and extraordinary scenery, boosting spectacular views of Croagh Patrick. Old Head Beach and pier is a very safe and idyllic location for Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Kayaking and is known locally as a family beach, safe for swimming, pier jumping, walks in the woods. Whether you’re new to Paddle Boarding and Kayaking or not, you will make wonderful memories in our beautiful surroundings.
Sunrise sessions
Our personal favourite experience is our sunrise sessions, these happen as often as possible when we know the sunrise is going to be just amazing. No experience is necessary as we get you up early and go through all you need to know. We paddle out towards the sunrise and take a breath and watch it rise over the mountain. We finish the session with a dawn swim and a healthy breakfast on the beach.
Start time vary each day but in mid-summer it’s a 5am start.
Sunset sessIons
There is no better way to spend an evening! Watch the sunset’s beautiful colours while enjoying it from a stand up paddle board or kayaking on the sea. Every sunset and sky is different from the previous, you’ll enjoy a sunset experience like nobody else that came before you. Either with a group of likeminded friends.
Sunset stand up paddle boarding or kayak is an experience not to be missed when coming to this area.
It is the perfect way to enjoy an evening in the west of Ireland.

Our sunrise and sunset session only happen on the most magical mornings and evenings. Even though the sunrises and sets every day, you don’t always get to see it because of cloud cover, fog and sea mist. We watch the weather and only choose the days that we are certain on an amazing experience for you. These days are advertised on our social media so follow us for announcements.
