Weather
Paddle water sports lIke calm weather – wind is our enemy. In general terms anything over 12-14 knots is too windy for an adult and you will struggle to paddle against it. Children’s max would be 7-9 Knots. However throughout the day there are what we call windows of opportunity where the wind dies and we can hit the water for some fun. Rain has no affect as we get wet anyway! Actually sometimes rain calms the wind down and makes for a perfect paddle.
With this in mind we ask you to contact us and we can tell you the very best times to hit the water.
Tide Times
Here at Summer Stand up paddle and kayak tides dont affect us. With the changing tide it opens up new areas to explore. However, lots of people love to have a pier jump nearby after their adventure with us and you do need a high tide for this!
Best Time to Hit the Water
Our lesson times are 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm and all session start at one of these times including rentals. However with this in mind to get the best session – mornings and evenings have a higher chance of very calm waters. The middle of the day is generally the windiest part of the day.
